5/27 Releasing the Need for Fear and Cheese
The Exploits blog and upcoming Vegan Experience has overtaken my thoughts and activities. Our kitchen has become an amateur photography studio and my days are now consumed with compassionate consumption. I love it. I am thoroughly enjoying the entire process.
One feeling that has secretly surfaced is the thought that once we are immersed in the 30 day Vegan Experience…what if I love it and don’t ever want to stop. What if I am not good at it and in a Merlot induced haze I slip up and order a vegetarian pizza smothered in cheese, because that is what I have always done? What if the things I have read are true and I experience vitality and energy like never before? Mental clarity like a yogi and a healthy, beautiful bod I could have only imagined. What if it isn’t as hard as I thought and I really do experience all of those wonderful things and become the animal loving vegan rock-star (okay I made that up) that I have always thought I could be?
I have recognized these opposing feelings as fear of both success and failure. Poking its head through the haze of new experiences and joy. Change is scary. Even change that we have sought out and was not thrust upon us is scary. In a Biggest Loser (guilty pleasure) episode, one of the contestants was talking to her mom. She said…what if I get there and I cant do it? And just like a sage, her mom replied…but what if you get there and you can?
Lets not let fear of success or failure, or anything in between stop us. This is not an all or nothing challenge, but a challenge to allow ourselves to try new things and bask in the joy of knowing we are making a difference for ourselves and the world. Lets allow ourselves to effect change, one meal at a time without judgment or expectation.
It is our day, our meals and our time to release the need for fear and allow our greatness to emerge from the haze. Enjoy trying new things today.
Make it a great one!
