6/1 Happy June!
What a beautiful holiday weekend! We went on a mini-break to Frankenmuth, Michigan. We were there to volunteer for our friends at World Animal Awareness Society during the Dog Bowl 2010. Dog Bowl is a huge festival of all things canine and pet friendly.
Frankenmuth was also hosting the 2010 Great Lakes Regional Hot Air Balloons Championship.
At night they had a balloon glow which was magnificent. It was so gorgeous. I have never seen anything like it.
As you can see, we had a jam packed weekend with both work and play. A typical situation for eating on the fly. As a vegetarian and vegan wannabe visiting Frankenmuth, Michigan’s Little Bavaria (think huge chicken dinners and weiner schnitzel) I would have been severely limited in dining options on the go. I always believe that if you fail to plan…plan to fail. So, the day we were leaving I bought a ton of easy, healthy foods to bring with us in a cooler. I bought an already cut up fruit tray(to save time), bagel thins for sandwiches, hummus, veggie lunch meat and granola bars. We had the foods we could eat and enjoy, for a really hectic but fun trip.
When I am getting ready to leave town, the very last thing I want to do is go to one more store and pack one more thing, but I have to tell you…I was so glad to not have to live on hot pretzels and mustard.
Set yourself and your new healthful habits up for success. In order to experience new things and revitalized health you may have to do a little planning ahead until it becomes a habit that is easily accomplished. It really is worth it. We are worth it!
With all the money I saved I was able to taste test yet another vegan cupcake! Yes, even in Michigan’s Little Bavaria I was able to find a vegan cupcake. I will share a full review this week to give it the space it deserves.
Have a great Day!
