6/3 Launching Project Produce
I am so excited to tell you about our new venture; Project Produce. Every Friday we will collect fresh produce at our local farmers market to take to First Step, a domestic violence shelter. They will use the produce for the women and children in the shelter, and also those who live in transitional housing while rebuilding their lives.
It is the perfect marriage between community and compassionate consumption. Sharing locally grown produce with these families in need is such a fantastic thing, I can hardly wait for it to begin!!
Project Produce is a new outreach program from Project Mother’s Day which is a national “give” started by Sandy and myself five years ago. Every year we handcraft jewelry to donate to children in domestic violence shelters across the country so they have a gift to give their mom on Mother’s Day.
This year with the help of generous volunteers and donors we were able to handcraft, box and ship 205 necklaces to shelters across the country. Learn more www.ProjectMothersDay.com
In an effort to continue our mission of nurturing survivors of domestic violence, we created Project Produce. Small steps creating great change. Everyone should have access to the very best produce to encourage and nurture their very best health.
This Friday we are going to the market to finalize details with the farmers and vendors. The following Friday we will have our first pick up and delivery day. I will share all the news and photos as soon as I have them.
You too can create a Project Produce in your community. Find out who manages your local farmers market and share your idea. Maybe they will help, just because you asked.
Please share any additional ideas you may have. Have a great day!

Thank you Kathy! We are SO excited about this Project. My nephew (8) and niece (7) are gardening their hearts out in Milan to support Project Produce, so it is already doing great things.
Besides getting fresh food in the hands of people who need and deserve it…it is working toward shining the light on domestic violence and its survivors instead of remaining shrouded in darkness and shame.
We lovingly and graciously accept all the produce and help anyone can provide!
