8/4 Dressing Up
I love a beautifully dressed salad. All the veggies that I adore floating on a bed of my favorite greens, waiting for a light rain of a salad dressing I can crave. That is what I have found in the two creations being served up by a family owned company called Middle Eastern Delites. We found their duo of dressings at our local farmers market. The creators of this company, a mother of four and her husband turned their secret family recipe into a lifelong dream, starting Middle Eastern Delites in 2008.
The two dressings they have designed are, Mediterranean Garlic and Fattoush. They are gluten, sugar, dairy, trans fat and cholesterol free. Because all of the unsavory things were left out…there is more room for the delightful flavors they both provide.
The Fattoush dressing is lemony, luscious and makes the most sensational marinade for chick’n. The other day I marinated chick’n and chick peas in the Fattoush dressing, then sauteed them in a pan. While they were warm, I poured them on a huge salad of all things colorful and fresh. Then, I dressed the salad with the other flavor, the creamy, Mediterranean Garlic dressing and we feasted like royalty.
The dressings are rich in flavor without being rich in fat, only 60 calories per serving with 6 grams of fat. They are both crafted with extra virgin olive oil as opposed to some dressings with filler oils that have a negligible amount of this good stuff.
Being playful with them, I added an extra squeeze or two of fresh lemon, and some lemon pepper for more zing.
If you are ready to fall in love with salads again, I have found new dressings for you to try. Looking for a new marinade for veggies and tempeh? Look no further. They are both sensational and completely different.
