9/1 Meetup-Date
Happy first day of September. The weather here is still gorgeous and hot. I am soaking it up and storing it for later.
I wanted to share an update to our previous Meetup conversation from the post on 8/20. Tonight is our first official event with new Meetup friends. We are attending a raw foods cooking class. The menu sounds exquisite. We are making:
Creamy Corn Chowder
Sun-dried Tomato/Flax Crackers
Marinated Fajita-style Veggie Wraps served with Chimichurri Sauce
Seasonal Fruit Cobbler with Cashew-Coconut Cream
Yum to the mach ten. That is pretty much a description of my ideal meal. If it had mentioned guacamole, I would have thought Sandy pre arranged to have the meal designed specifically for me to enjoy. I am a newbie to raw food meal preparation and am honestly giddy with anticipation. I am excited to meet new friends that are interested in veg and vegan things. There are 25 completely new to me, veg curious, vegan wannabe, raw food enthusiasts that are attending this event. New people to meet, learn with and to share a meal with. Sounds like a fantastic Wednesday night.
The most amazing thing is that the class is only $10. It is inspiring, the veg Meetups have the most wonderful connections to the coolest events ever. Events that I would not have found otherwise. Small classes that are being held at out of the way venues, this one is at a Myomassology Institute. Tiny veg- lovin film festivals and happy hours at vegan friendly restaurants that we did not know existed.
When we were first making the transition to vegan, I didn’t know where to look for resources , classes and answers. I started the search at our local colleges for cool vegan cooking classes but came up empty. I scoured the library for books and only found a small handful. Had I known three months ago how helpful the Meetups would be, I would have signed up sooner.
So here we are now…about to attend our first Meetup/cooking class. Redecorating my life is fun and scary and requires walking outside of my comfort zone at times. This is one of those times. I am as nervous as I am excited and as tentative as I am ready to jump in with both feet. I look forward to telling you all about it. If we are given the recipes, I will certainly share them.
Have a delicious day.
No Meetup photos yet, so here is Chloe enjoying the sectional and her blankie.

I can’t wait to hear about it! Angela is a great teacher, you will love her! Plus, there is such a good energy at Irene’s that just being in the building is a happy experience! Enjoy!
