9/22 An Update & A Great Read
Kombucha Tea update
I shared our first Kombucha experience with you in the Kombucha Tea post. Our first bottle was a gift so we had not purchased it ourselves yet. Since then we had decided that we wanted to incorporate it into our routine and see how we felt after a few weeks. We took a field trip and drove to the store where we knew they sold the living, unpasteurized Kombucha we had tried before.
Once there…it was nowhere in sight. We found out that all raw Kombucha had been pulled off the shelves because retailers and regulators were concerned that it contained more than 0.5 alcohol. Anything above 0.5 would need to be labelled an alcoholic beverage and taxed like mad. Larger creators of Kombucha have revamped their recipes and those are now back on the shelves.
A local producer of Kombucha just shared with me that their tea will be returning shortly in Michigan and available where beer and wine is sold. This does however beg the question…is this really what I want to drink everyday to improve my health?
Because we have not added the Kombucha to our daily routine, I have become very curious in the health benefits of drinking Apple Cider Vinegar. If you do this or know anything about this, please let me know.
A Beautiful Book
I just finished the sweetest book and wanted to share. I know many of you are as wacky over animals as I am. I needed a quick and gentle read that would lighten my heart..this is it. It is called Making Rounds With Oscar By: David Dosa, M.D.
It is the true story of Oscar the cat and his remarkable ability to sense the approaching death of patients hours before it happens. Oscar makes his home on the third floor (advanced dementia unit) of a nursing home in Rhode Island. As a patient is silently slipping away , Oscar snuggles in bed with the patient until they pass.
Oscar is deeply loved by the patients, care givers and families that spend so much of their time in this nursing home. It is a beautiful tale of compassion, empathy and the unconditional love we receive from animals…even animals that aren’t “ours.” It is also a love story in honor of those with Alzheimer’s disease and those who adore them. I really enjoyed this book and think you will too.
Have a delicious day

Hi, Sherry.
I have a friend who lost weight that she wanted too, solely by drinking a bottle of Kombuchu tea split in 2 doses each day.
And one who did the same by drinking an ounce of apple cider vinegar mixed with water twice a day.
I think both are worth experimenting with for their health benefits too.

Hi Wendy, I am so glad you have joined the conversation. I am very intrigued with the Apple Cider Vinegar. I was reading more about ACV on the Braggs site yesterday and it seems very similar to Kombucha Tea. They are both living drinks with strange sediment. I am going to continue to research it and see what I can find.
