1/8 Hemp Milk, I Think I Love You
The other day I had the opportunity to try Vanilla Hemp Milk for the first time. I really don’t have any idea why I didn’t try it sooner but I have to admit, I have been pretty stuck on lovin Soy Milk and just recently tried and fell in love with Almond Milk. Like many of you, I am also in the process of learning to be more open and willing to step out of my comfort zone. So….I saw the Hemp Milk on the shelf, put it in the cart and brought it home. I think I am in love. It is thicker than soy milk and has a rich, nutty flavor. It is silky smooth and luxurious, more like a melted milk shake than a glass of milk. It would be a sensational addition to a smoothie and the unsweetened variety would add the creamy to your soups.
Hemp milk is made by pulverizing the seeds from the edible part of the Cannabis sativa plant. The pulverized seeds are blended with water and the solids are strained to create an incredibly rich and creamy drink. What I was most jazzed about was the abundance of nutrition in only one serving.
One 8 ounce glass of Hemp Milk provides:
- 900mg Omega-3 Fatty Acid
- 2800mg Omega-6 Fatty Acid
- All 10 Essential Amino Acids
- 3 grams of Digestible Protein
- 40% of RDA of Calcium
- 0% Cholesterol
- Potassium
- Phosphorous
- Vitamin A
- Riboflavin
- Vitamin E
- Vitamin B12
- Folic Acid
- Vitamin D
- Magnesium
- Iron
- Zinc
That is a lot of goodness in one glass. It is also soy, gluten and cholesterol fee.
I shared with you a few months ago that I now work at Trader Joe’s and I want to relay this funny “work” story. Lately I have been working the Demo Station, which is the sample bar where we cook and sample food for our customers to try. It is ridiculously fun.
Well, the other morning it was up to me to choose what the morning demo products to feature would be, so I chose a hearty grain cereal with Hemp Milk. No really, I seriously did. I have to admit I was nervous that people would freak out and that would be my last Demo shift but much to my delight and surprise…as soon as I shared the delicious milk with customers and told them about its amazing benefits, they were tearing it off the shelf. We sold so many boxes of Hemp Milk that I couldn’t replicate the demo the next day. I totally felt like a vegan plant or mole doing good from the inside out! It was very exciting to inspire strangers to want to purchase something healthy and vegantastic! Not only because I knew if they would give it a try they would enjoy it but because I certainly realized that every box of hemp milk I sold meant one less carton of dairy milk was being purchased that day. Changing the world one meal, one carton of hemp milk at a time.
Give Hemp Milk a try, I think you will really enjoy it for not only its nutritional benefits, but because it is simply yummy.
Have a delicious day.
I found the additional Hemp Milk info and a recipe to create your own at The Global Healing Center

I love this line – “I totally felt like a vegan plant or mole doing good from the inside out! It was very exciting to inspire strangers to want to purchase something healthy and vegantastic!” I have just started on this journey into veganism – and try not to get too preachy about – even though I feel it is the best diet for a variety of reasons. But I have been entertaining a lot. It’s so fun to show people that a vegan diet can be superyummy and exciting. My way of proselytizing through their stomachs.

OOOH! this tip is just in time for a vegan squash/pear soup I am making tomorrow. I was planning on using Almond milk to add a creamy flavor but I will have to try some Hemp instead! Much love!

Hi Raine, Thank you for sharing this notion, we too believe that if you prepare delicious food, it is the best way to introduce someone to trying vegan!
