8/23 Whip It
I finally broke down and tried whippable soy topping. I have picked it up and passed it up a half dozen times. It was not until I was going to create the Peach Galette that the Soyatoo! whipped topping seemed critical. It feels unfathomable to have pie or Galette without a la mode or whipped topping.
The whippable topping comes in a liquid form in a small Tetra pack in the fridge section. I was underwhelmed by the size for the cost until I realized how much whipped topping it actually makes. Sometimes it is good to be wrong.
To make it fluffy you simply whip it with a hand mixer until it reaches your desired consistency. Whipping it up from scratch is wonderful because you have the opportunity to enhance the flavor with anything you enjoy. I made mine into a cinnamon scented vanilla cream. I wanted to see how much additional liquid (vanilla) I could get away with adding. I added quite a bit without hindering its fluffiness one bit. Really good to know. Maple cream, orange scented clove cream….almond whipped cream.
The cream was easy to whip and became voluminous quickly. It was dense and light with an incredibly cloud like texture. It has a distinctly soy flavor that will distinguish it from dairy whipped cream for the whipped cream connoisseurs, but it was delicious and decadent without harming the barn. It tasted like sweet cashew cream without all of the work. Love that.
Soyatoo! also makes soy and rice whipped cream that is dispensed from a can. I intend to try that as well, especially because it will travel so easily but sometimes I’m partial to being able to make as much as I need and flavor it as I choose. I found mine at a store called Plum Market but you may find Soyatoo! in some major chain stores such as www.wholefoods.com and through mail order companies such as www.VeganEssentials.com.
This will elevate fruit to fantastic and will give any dessert some added panache. It was lovely to have the option of enjoying an organic and cholesterol free whipped cream with our dessert. Convenience with a dash of compassion.
Have a delicious day.

I’ve only had Soyatoo in the spray can. Not that great. This looks and sounds like a better way to go! MimicCreme Healthy Top is another whippable topping that’s made from almonds and cashews. That one is really yummy – reminded me a lot of Cool Whip (which for me is an awesome thing!).
