9/11 Vegan Chili Cook-Off & Enter to Win
Yesterday I spent the day perfecting my entry for the Sasha Farm Vegan Chili Cook-Off. This is the first time I have ever entered a chili cook off and I am really excited. As much as I would like to bring home a ribbon, I am just thrilled to be attending an event where I can eat everything that is being served without asking what’s in it first.
Sasha Fars is Michigan’s largest farm animal sanctuary and one of the most sacred places I have ever been. Their chili cook-off/fall open house is a fundrasier as well as an opportunity to tour the farm. It is one of the few times a year you can meet the animals that call Sasha home.
The farm has every animal you can think of including emus, gaggles of geese, a herd of goats and two barns full of piggies, potbelly and otherwise. They have been saved from slaughter, hoarding and dairy farms. Their stories are as varied as their personalities. I love it there and relish every opportunity I have to visit.
Here are links to two posts from previous visits:
Fall ’12 Open House and Chili Cook off
This will be the first time I have ever visited the farm as a contender….. a vegan chili cook-off heavyweight. I will share my new recipe after I perfect it for the cook-off. If you are anywhere near lower Michigan on September 21st, please join us in Manchester, Michigan at Sasha Farm (and maybe even cast a vote for me).
Your visit will change you. The love from the animals and the land that they share will seep into your bones and fill your heart. It will be an infusion of positivity from the most beautiful living things with an almost surreal capacity to love, trust and express gratitude.

My favorite vegan comfort food would have to be roasted veggie pizza loaded with artichoke, caramelized onion and black olive!

Vegan pizza has to be one my favorite comfort foods as well. Did you know that Buddy’s pizza has an amazing vegan pie with vegan mozz?
