12/12 Natural Laundry and Dishwasher Detergent
As we near the time to welcome in a new year, I want to encourage all of us to let in the new. I am not talking great upheavel that requires heroic measures, but rather small changes that add up to create great things. In this spirit, let’s talk about coming clean with our laundry and dishwasher detergent.
One day while on a road trip, I found a natural laundry and dishwasher detergent in a “green” store with lots of gifts, locally made products, organic and recycled items. The detergent is made a company called Shower Treat Soap. While in the store, I purchased their rosemary mint laundry detergent. I was first drawn in by the fragrance. When I realized that it was vegan and all natural, I was in.
Laundry detergent is one of those things that I give little or no thought to. It shows up on my grocery list, I throw it in the cart. Done. It wasn’t until I purchased this detergent that I realized how obscene it was to continue washing the clothes that touch my body in products made with chemicals, dyes or artificial fragrances. Why hadn’t I thought of this before? The fantastic thing is that once I realized that I wanted to try a new way, making the change was both easy and affordable.
Shower Treat’s all natural laundry detergent smells divine, is easy to use and negates the need for fabric softener. This is the part that I found hard to believe. I am a self proclaimed fabric softener addict. Sometimes I put two dryer sheets in just to be sure. I gave their claim a fair shot and my clothes have come out of the dryer soft and static free, every single time.
Their laundry detergent comes in scents such as lavender, fresh lemon and my fave rosemary mint. You may also work with them to create a custom scent. How fun would that be? The 100 load bag is only $20.00. I think that anything that turns a chore into a sensory experience is worth $20.
Since then, I have also tried their powdered dishwasher detergent. In an effort to really put the detergent to task, Sandy put a plate into the dishwasher without rinsing it. This is so against her moral code that I nearly had to medicate her after shutting the dishwasher door. That dish and all of the dishes were spotless and streak free. It was a beautiful thing and for the first time ever, I knew that there were no chemicals or bleach clinging to our dishes. A tasty revelation. Again, this never entered my mind until it did and then incredulously I thought, “Why I am I using chemicals to wash my clothes and dishes?” I don’t have to and neither do you.
Using all natural detergent feels good, tastes good and does good by not dumping chemicals into our water system. Lets remove the use of chemicals where we can and try new ways to come clean.
Shower Treat Soap also carries body care essentials like aluminum and paraben free, amazing smelling deodorant, vegan lip balms and vegan soap. Their lip balms cleverly come with a clip on the top for your key chain so you never have to suffer through finding it to heal your chapped lips again. Sandy used their raspberry lemonade lip balm and says it is very moisturizing. She also liked that the flavor was subtle, pleasant and not overly done.
They have an entire line of products to love that will love you back. We deserve the best in the new year. Let’s start now.
Have a delicious day.
