9/27 Animal friendly movies
Renting a movie and curling up with a biggie bowl of vegan popcorn and a spoiled chihuahua is one of the most heavenly things in my world. It feeds my soul, recharges my batteries and helps me smile even more the next day.
The Ultimate List of Animal Friendly Movies recently popped into my inbox. It is too fun not to share. There are great family classics from Disney that you might already suspect, like Dumbo, Bambi, Finding Nemo and 101 Dalmations. But there are also some “sleepers” in there too, that at first blush might seem more entertainment driven then those we already know carry a kind, moral story. Some of those include Chicken Run, Marmaduke (voiced by Owen Wilson), and How to Train Your Dragon.
A few years ago on a chilly Thanksgiving Day, we settled in for a movie marathon and among those we saw was Chicken Run. This is where we first realized that this cartoon classic with Mel Gibson voicing a chicken named Rocky had a wonderfully relayed message about the cruel results of commercial farms. It is a delightful story, gently told through the eyes of these chickens who are in a Farmhouse in England and continuously try to escape. See Post.
